Exciting projects have been happening over at the Potter House this week! While we have a mile long 'to-do' list and 'wish lists' we decided to prioritize our lists and one at the very top of both of ours was laying the foundation for the driveway!

In it's natural state, it was a bit of a rough ride onto the property, which is easily understandable! Driveways, whether they are paved, crushed granite - you name it, it's going to cost money. However, I think we both loved the organic state it was in, the right thing to do is start the process of creating a good foundation for a future, permanent paved setup.

We also took this time to add a entry gate and I have a call into a masonry for a meeting to start discussing the new setup for the wrought iron gate we are in the process of designing. Again, so many fun projects on the to do list!

We opted to use what's called flexbase, also known as Colicchie (not a typo, lol) but people around the area moved to flexbase and suggested it. The goal is to lay a good foundation that can eventually be paved or bricked over. I vote brick but that's a project for way, years, down the road.

Back to what we laid in the meantime! We went from the road and veered to the left towards the shop. Our vision is to let nature take back the entire right side + the loop that runs in front of the house. We initially loved the roundabout but once we started drafting plans for the shop, we quickly realized that it's not a direction we would like to go since we will be parking our vehicles behind the shop.

We have an upcoming meeting with an architect to start discussing the first big renovation and restoring project at the Potter House, which is the Shop! I haven't shown much of the Shop that sits adjacent to the Potter House but I'll include a picture below. Stay tuned for updates and posts regarding our plans to renovate the space from top to bottom!

**The Shop photo is blurry! I had to pull it from a video I was making. I promise to upload a better picture soon but this gives you an idea!**

On that note, back to the driveway. We decided the best place to put a garage for our vehicles is behind / attached to the backside of the shop hence why we are forgoing the roundabout infront of the house and having it lead directly to the Shop and around the back.

Our goal for all of our projects is to be as period correct as possible while also renovating each space to be as functional as possible. We want to make sure we match what the original owners who moved the house in the 80's did with their vision because without them, none of this would even be here so with that, we are so grateful!

Stay tuned for more updates regarding the Shop and new build garage over the next couple of weeks!

LOL When you said "pave or bricked over" my first thought was brick! So I hope it becomes a reality for you some day, that would be so COOL!💙🆒
