A Birthday Trip to Magnolia

Sometimes it doesn't feel real that I could quite literally go and visit the Magnolia Silos, Magnolia Table and The Little Shop of Bosque on any given day and be there in 2 hours and 20 minutes.
In times past, while out visiting my brother and his family, my sister-in-law Hannah and I have made it a point to go during my annual trips out in January. Our trips have always played out to our advantage - never busy and during one of our visits, we were the only ones there because it was chilly and in the middle of the week!

We have a solid routine down: Magnolia Press, Little Shop of Bosque, Magnolia Table then back to the Silos for the rest of the day! However, during these trips, I had to be mindful about what I purchased because it had to be able to fly home in my suitcase.
Now, when Joe asked me what I wanted to do for my 33rd Birthday, it was of no question - I wanted to spend the day in Waco!
We left the Potter House around 8:30am and headed straight to The Little Shop of Bosque. For those not familiar, it is where Joanna Gaines first opened her shop many years ago and it now offers slightly damaged or last chance items from Magnolia Home at a heavy discount! They had SO.MUCH.GOOD.STUFF!! I couldn't believe the discount and I noticed there weren't many damaged items, mainly just last chances items.

I found a lot of great finds, from a knitted sweater for myself to these amazing lanterns. I picked up wood candlestick holders, two porcelain serving plates, cloth napkins, and my favorite Magnolia Candle ( Greenhouse) just to name a few.

This is also my go-to place to buy faux floral because the quality is simply the best - it's worth the extra pennies.

From there, we had reservations ( highly recommended ) for an amazing lunch at Magnolia Table. Joe had the Brunch Burger and I had the Gaines Brother Burger. I normally order a seasonable item, okay, maybe multiple entrees but this time I was so good! Joe tried their cold pressed juice and I ordered my usual half in half tea. We were seated in a part of the restaurant I had never been in and that was so exciting! Joe and I are intentional during mealtime so I didn't have my phone out to take pictures but we did snap these.

One thing I'd like to mention is that this building was repaired, but not altered. It's amazing what the right color scheme, window design and some greenery can do for the overall aesthetic. The addition of the black iron work under the windows and over the entry doors add depth. I know I've mentioned in the past that I like to work with the existing bones of the project instead of tearing down and restarting and this is a perfect example proving that method does work.

After lunch, we headed to the Magnolia Silos! Although there is a lot of construction going on in Waco, everything is close so it's just minutes in-between.
I wanted to start in Magnolia Home, which is located next to Magnolia Press and The Shops at the Silos. While in Magnolia Home, I had my eyes set on finding a particular set of brass candlesticks and anything else that I didn't know I needed until I saw it.
I round up having a great conversation with an associate named Daisy while there. She gave me good insight on some potential bedside tables but ultimately we decided they were all a bit too modern for my current direction. One thing I'd like to note is yes, most Magnolia furniture is clean, sleek and if you had to put a label on it - modern. However, Joe and I purchased several items from Magnolia Home's Living Spaces collection and its design is more neutral, one could even say french country..? I am not big into interior design catch phrases. I think if you like the item and it speaks to you, you will always find a place for it in your home and I think Magnolia Home does a great job hitting all the influential designs with their home décor goods. Nonetheless, we chatted about the blog and I walked out of there with my brass candlesticks ( as seen in my recent reel on insta ) and some good ideas for potential art purchases.

From there, we beelined for Magnolia Press because we started to feel that food coma from our large lunch setting in. I opted for an iced-chai and Joe got a drip-coffee. It was a beautiful day outside so we took our drinks to go and meandered in and out of the Shops.

Once we finished our drinks, we headed over to Magnolia Market, located next to the Silos. This is where Joe wins the award for the most patient husband ever. I circled the store entirely at least 4 times and picked up new items, brought them to the front desk to hold, and continued to circle until I concluded I saw it all and was buying it all. Remember when I said that in previous times I've really had to limit what I bought because I needed it to be able to fit in my luggage? Well, this time, it just had to fit in the cab or bed of the truck! No pictures were taken because Joe's arms were full. Again, amazing husband.
After having the birthday shopping spree of a lifetime, we headed over the one of my favorite sections of the Silos, the little corner where Magnolia Garden & Supply is located. The corner has expanded and now has a seating area, a fairy garden and the green house was filled with beautiful flowers!

And of course, we couldn't end the day without a trip through Magnolia Bakery. I picked up two cupcakes and an oatmeal filled cookie ( because it's my favorite! ) and headed home. Once home, we unloaded my birthday gifts and I got to working unwrapping. We ended the night facetiming my parents and I showed them my Magnolia goods and then Joe & my parents sung me happy birthday! Joe and I shared the cupcakes ( again, not pictured but they were so delicious! ) and I can easily say it was one of the best birthdays I've had to date!
Stay tuned over the next couple of weeks to see how I style and incorporate the decor I picked up around This Old Potter House!
